Grand Blue Fighting Styles

Direct answerGrand Blue has four obtainable fighting styles in Early Access: Brawler, Novice Swordsman, Marksman and Trickster. Trainers and costs are community-documented (Brawler 250G Anchor Town, Novice Swordsman 250G Anchor Town, Marksman 1,000G Maple Village, Trickster 1,000G via a two-step Loki chain). Blackleg is reported as unavailable. Costs and positions change between patches — confirm with the trainer prompt in the current build.
What styles are for
Fighting styles shape your M1 (light attack) layer and provide skills you slot for combat. They are a separate progression system from Cursed Fruits — eating a fruit does not make your style irrelevant, and styles stay part of your kit alongside it.
The four obtainable styles (community)
| Style | Trainer | Area | Reported cost | Note |
| Brawler | Wallace | Anchor Town (dock / beach) | 250 Gold | First style most players pick up |
| Novice Swordsman | Shiro | Anchor Town (pond) | 250 Gold | Base tier of the sword line |
| Marksman | Captain Esopo (trainer) | Maple Village (Rocky Shores) | 1,000 Gold | Same-named NPC as a boss — use the trainer marker |
| Trickster | Loki | Anchor → Clown Town (Ferris wheel) | 1,000 Gold | Requires Pickpocket + Pocket Sand from Afuaru the Hoarder |
| Blackleg | None confirmed | — | Unavailable | Not obtainable in current coverage |
Trickster unlock chain (community)
- Meet Loki in Anchor Town (near the shoreline) and finish his requests
- Obtain Pickpocket and Pocket Sand — reported 10% drops from Afuaru the Hoarder in Anchor Town
- Sail to Clown Town, climb the Ferris wheel, and meet Loki in a cart
- Pay 1,000 Gold to complete the unlock
How to switch styles
Community guides describe switching through a wardrobe/closet in Anchor Town (the Food Fod/Food Foo building near Aria): interact, open Fighting Styles, and equip an unlocked style. Buying a style does not necessarily equip it automatically.
Choosing a style
- Brawler and Novice Swordsman are the early options around Anchor Town (250G each)
- Marksman unlocks later around Maple Village — costs 1,000G
- Trickster needs the full Loki chain — farm Afuaru for the two prerequisite drops first
- Match the style to the trainer you can actually reach at your progression stage (see Progression)
What we don't publish
No skill damage numbers, cooldowns or exact unlock quest steps beyond the chain above. Prices and positions are community-reported as of 2026-09-08 and can shift between patches — verify with the live trainer prompt.
