Grand Blue Life Skills

Direct answerFour life skills are community-documented: Mining, Fishing, Farming and Cooking. Mining requires a pickaxe, uses hold-to-mine node progress, and feeds the ore/crafting/tool ladder; Fishing has Seafolk synergy, while Dwarf has the clearest mining/smelting synergy. Exact XP rates, coordinates, refresh times and recipes are not official.
The four skills
| Skill | What it does (community) | Why it matters | Evidence |
| Mining | Gather ore for upgrades | Weapon/equipment upgrade materials | Community |
| Fishing | Fish for materials/food | XP and cooking inputs; Seafolk bonus | Community (2 sources) |
| Farming | Grow crops | Cooking inputs and quest items | Community |
| Cooking | Cook food for buffs | Buffs and quest items | Community |
Mining basics
Mining requires a pickaxe. Community gameplay coverage shows the basic interaction as holding the mining action on a node until the progress bar fills, then using the ore output in the crafting and tool-upgrade ladder. Do not treat any public route as a fixed coordinate map unless it shows current-game proof.
| Mining field | Current answer | Evidence status |
| Tool requirement | You need a pickaxe before mining nodes are useful | Community gameplay |
| Interaction | Hold on the node until the mining bar completes | Community gameplay |
| Ore use | Ores feed crafting, smelting and upgraded tool progression | Community crafting coverage |
| Coordinates / refresh / yield | Unknown | Not safely published |
Lead Ore and Lead Ball
The Lead Ore guide now covers the current Maple Village waterfall landmark, farming loop and evidence limits. The Lead Ball guide covers the reported 2x Lead recipe and Slingshot chain; quantities remain subject to current Crafting Table confirmation.
Why they matter
Community guides describe life skills supporting weapon upgrades, food buffs and quest blockers — several quests gate on life-skill output. Treat exact XP/recipe values as community reports that change between patches.
Race synergy
Seafolk is reported with fishing perks (fishing XP, double-fish chance, water kit) — a documented race × fishing synergy. Dwarf is now the clearest mining race: four community sources align on +15% double resource chance for mining/smelting and +25% mining XP, with more details on Grand Blue Dwarf Race Guide.
Decision context
If your goal is life skills, factor them into your stat and race choices — the Builds page covers the life-skill pivot and the Build Finder takes your goal into account.
